Problem with 'deleting file' box

When I try to start a game that has always started in the past I get a message, a box comes up saying deleting 1 item (0 bytes) from Roaming (C:\Users\The Burkes\App Data\Roaming) Discovered 0 items (0bytes) under more information it has Time Remaining: Calculating... Items remaining: 1 (0 bytes) Speed: 0bytes/sec. The same thing happens when I send things to the recycle bin, it recycles but leaves the box up saying recycling, also when I empty the recycle bin, it deletes but leaves the box up. The only way to get rid of the boxes is through task manager.

I am using vista and to be honest never had a prob with it before. I did an update of AVG last week but have run the game since fine. I have done numerous scans to see if theres a worm/malware but nothing, I have googled the problem and found numerous the same but when I try the fixes stated they don't work. I have gotten rid of things in the roaming file that shouldn't be there, still doesn't fix it. I have restarted the computer so many times. Just doesn't seem to go away!! I have also downloaded advanced system care 4 and while I think I may have now the cleanest computer known to man with all the scanning Ive done in the past three days nothing seems to fix the problem!! Any help would be grand :)

Have also deleted pretty much everything in the roaming file except what I know is definatly needed, still nothing changes!

It sure is. The game dosnt appear to be the problem, bit the bullet and un installed it, and still getting the error of the delete box staying up.

Hi Shawn, before I posted a help thread went through alot of the tutorials on here to see if I could fix it alone and this was the first one I tried, unfortunatly no luck with it. Really at a loss with this one, normally I get a problem google it and can fix it but not this time, and its really frustrating me!

Ok new problem, because the old one wasnt challenging enough! When I uninstall a programme it gets to the end of the uninstall the programmes gone, but then when I go to uninstall something else a box pops up saying, please wait until the current programme is finished uninstalling or being changed. The only way to stop this is to reboot and then I can uninstall something else. Am thinking a hammer is looking like a good idea and getting a whole new one!!

You might see if running a sfc /scannow command may help then.

If not, then you could try doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this started if not to long ago.

ok just tried doing that, copying and pasting the command and it says FINDSTR: Cannot open Burkes\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

Had already tried a sys restore couple of days ago and that didnt fix it either.

Ok, this is starting to sound more like a permissions issue now.

As a test, create a new administrator account to see if you have the same issues while logged in it.

I had high hopes for that one! Set up a new administrator account, signed in, little box came up in the corner saying 'setting up personlized details for windows desktop update' and thats all it did for the next 55 minutes. Im sure its not meant to take that long to set it up, will leave it there while I go out just in case though.
