Windows installation mess up

So my laptop got a virus that cut the wi-fi, so I got someone to help reformat my laptop, because i'm lazy. That was a mistake.

They formatted the drive, so there is no boot available, and I can only boot through the Vista disc. So I open the disc, put in my area and stuff, but when i click install I get this;

Windows cannot open the required file D:\Sources\install.wim.
Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation.
Error code: 0x8007000D

Any help on this would be appreciated bigtime. I'm a bit boned without my laptop, what with a writing job in bristol coming up in 2 weeks.

Where did you get the Install disk from?

Are you mistakening it for a System Repair Disk?

it's not a recovery disk

Where did you get the Install disk from? Was it provided by Sony?

or Did you burn an Image?

it's from a friend. not sony.

I can't get onto the user areas because it's been formatted and bootmgr is missing

If i can help you I need to find out where you friend obtained this Disk -

Are you able to take a picture of the Disk?

Do you reach the Partition manager part if so What drive are you installing to

nothing connected, no.

Disk 0 Partition 1: Recovery (Total Size 7.0gb) (Free space 893.0 mb) (Type oem reserved)

Disk 0 Partition 2 (Total size 179.3 gb) (Free space 179.0 gb) (Type System)

Im trying to install to partition 2.

Your Recovery Partition is still intact

Have you tried holding alt + F10 at boot to start the factory restore process?

If not Do so and Recover from the partition
