Hi
I've got a quite old computer which is still using IDE connections. The CPU, graphics card and RAM are fine but the motherboard is really slowing it down.
Shops don't seem to be selling motherboards with IDE connections any more so is there a way of using a motherboard with SATA connections for IDE hard drives?
Thanks

Only a rare few are missing ide ports, though you will usually only get 1.

Second issue is its rarely the mobos fault, but your cpu and ram. And depend just how old your system is, you might not find a mobo to fit the cpu socket.

Well the system im talking about is the one under 'my system specs'. Im only thinking its the motherboard because on boot-up it usually stays on a screen saying 'WinFast' for about a minute and the shutdown process takes a long time as well.

When did you last reinstall windows?

Also run a malwarebytes and a AV scan.

I think your windows is just slow.

I run malwarebytes and AV scans about every 2 weeks. Windows was last installed about 3 years ago.
Do you think it would be best to re-install to speed everything up again?

Its free, so why not.

Just save all your drivers and program files to an external and it should be a 2hr process.
