Backing up drivers when Windows will not boot

My friend's computer is unbootable right now due to corruption of Windows. We will be re-installing Windows from an OEM installation disc. I am able to boot the computer using a boot disc and have copied his documents to an external drive.

Is there a way to also copy the needed drivers that are on the C drive, to make the Windows installation go easier later?
How can I identify what drivers are there, and how will I install them later?

Thanks

Welcome
There is a program driver max which may help
DriverMax - free driver download program for Windows XP & Vista

I believe this requires installation in Windows, cannot do that, Windows will not boot.

Also you can access all Windows files with a bootabe cd or USB with any of these live systems on it.
The LiveCD List

I am already using a bootable cd to copy files to an external hard drive.

What I am asking is how can I copy over the drivers I need for the re-install. If just copied, will they be in a format that I can use when I need to re-install them in the new Windows installation?

Thanks
