    Startup programs

Hi, I'm wanting to disable some of the startup programs to try and speed the time it takes for laptop to load up, but I'm not sure which I need to keep and which I can disable.
Theres a list below of some of the programs that I'm unsure about. Would really appreciate some advice. Thanks

    HP QuickPlay
StartMen Application (this is listed 3 times)
MUI StartMen Application (this is listed twice)
    HP Quick Launch Buttons
    Adobe Acrobat
    Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager
    Quick Time
    hpwuSchd Application
Java Platform SE Auto Updater 2 0
msnmsgr (not sure if this is something to do with msn? If it is, I've not even got anything to do with msn installed on the laptop)
    Synaptics Pointing Device Driver

    Re: Startup programs

    Welcome
I think that what you want to have in startup is subjective. I may never use a program while you may use it almost all the time and would want it.
Here is a list of startup programs, showing if they should be included in start up
    Sysinfo.org
If it were me, Id make a clean boot. Hide all MS start up prorams in start up and utick the rest. Then if I felt that one should be included in start up, after testing, Id tick it again.

These will explain how and what should be done to speed up Vista and how to know what to disable.

Also, should all these be in the C Drive folder? Sorry for keep asking, but I only have basic computer knowledge and am not sure what should be on and what shouldn't

    Re: Startup programs

On the list in the first post I would disable all except the touch pad (synaptics)
