System restore consumed much Hard drive space

I had no choice but to do system restore and found it consumed a lot of Hard drive space on computer.

I wonder if there is any safe method to get back consumed space by system restore?
Or can we Undo system restore to get back consumed space safely?

Any help (if possible with images) will be appreciated.

Thank you
Ari

Hi Ari, welcome to VF, i see we are having a problem with System resote consuming hard drive space.

luckily you can set the allocation to system restore and other advanced settings, just right click computer either from the start menu or desktop, click on properties, on the left of that window there is an option for system protection, click on that, now you'll get a window that looks like this:
system protection.jpg
now look for your system hard drive and click on configure, this will allow you to set how much space is allocated to system restore.

I have 1TB hard drive as my default HDD, it allocates 1% which is 10GB which is quite a lot but you can also set the level of restoring that happens from that screen as well :)

hope this helps

Hi,

Thank you for reply,

I notice the image you have provided and mine is a little bit different.
My OS in Japanese therefore in the screen shot I have added English for you to
understand easily.
Why there is no system configure in my screen shot. There is no way to know how much disk space is allocated for system restore.
Any idea what should I do,please refer screen shot.
Thank you

Ari

ahh, i see, I forgot i'm on windows 7 :p

give me a few minutes and i'll have a look on vista for you.
EDIT:

you are correct Ari, you cannot view it like i do on 7, but luckily, Shawn, the resident Alien has posted a rather helpful tutorial on how to achieve the same result in Vista here > http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76227-system-restore-disk-space.html
