Solved Desktop Backgroung wont load???

Hi

I have a Acer Aspire 5315, and yesterday I lodt my dsktop bacground picture.. I know its there, but its hidden.. I tried Malware sodtware/pcfixing software and Norton antivirus and are all clean.. I beed a direct answer and not virus checks etc..If it is a registry thing I can fix it is someone can guide me, or is it a setting somewhere??

Sounds like the registry. I have two suggestions. Go back to before the problem with a system restore or try from another user account. May be easier just to change accounts if that proves to be a viable answer.

Also, what do you mean by "I Know it's there, but it's hidden"? And do you mean it just isn't showing up, or the actual file is missing? What were you doing when you "lost it"? Did it just suddenly disappear or was it gone after a login or what? But ya, if you can just use a system restore point like Rich said, that will fix you right up.

Sounds like you may have started in another profile,not your own. Try a restart first.

When I said I know it is there is because when I shut down it is visible during the shutdown process...Other than that my screen is black with the icons on top.

Try the system restore it won't touch your personal files also go to your monitors website and update the driver.
You could also try a system file check

Is explorer.exe running in task manager. Right click a blank space in the notification area and select task manager,processes

I have explorer running

Can you go to one of your pictures and right click and set as desktop background. see if that works.

I tried, the only thing I can do is xhanger background color.. I am glad someone is at least helping me...thank you

Ill look under an advanced setting in personalisation see what I can do...BRB

Magnify and then scroll down ro the UNCHECK BACKGROUND IMAGES

If you have fixed it set a restore point now so any changes you make that get away from you can be removed.

Because it happened yesterday there's really no reason that System Restore wouldn't work unless your last restore point is so dated you'd lose a bunch of installs or no restore points exist. richc46 and ilikefree have suggested this already, did you do it?

Oh I've had that problem before. Try changing your desktop picture to something else (Right click on your desktop, go to Personalize, then select Desktop Background.) and see if that different picture shows up. (try one of the default ones included with vista) If it does, change it back to the one you want and maybe change one of the "how should this picture be positioned?" options at the bottom. If the different picture works and your pic still doesn't, your pic might be corrupted or something. But we'll deal with that if those steps don't fix it.
