Hello Paul, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You could do a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before you did this to undo and fix it. :)

If not, then create a new administrator account, and see how installing new apps work while logged in it.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Win Vista 64 bit problems

Shawn,
Your second option (create a new Admin account) works very well 1000 x 10U! I am thinking about use the new Admin account and delete the old Admin account. Is there anyway that I can "TRANSFER" all the APPS which was installed from the OLD Admin account to the NEW Admin account?

- I also discovered that I am unable to access my guest account (no password). When I tried to access the GUEST account, it took the sysytem for a good minute, then the following message was displayed: "Windows could not connect to the Sens sevice. Please consult your system administrator." . I followed the instructions of MS knowledge base to fix the said problem, it did not work! I also disabled this GUEST account, clean disk, defrag, ... then cold boot, re-initiated GUEST account. However, the problem is still there!

NOTE: I use the following freeware programs in my system:
- AVG Anti-Virus Free editon 2011
- CCleaner latest edition
- Smart Defrag 2
- IO BIT Malware Fighter

Regards,
Paul

Paul,

You might see if doing a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before you had these issues to see if that may be able to undo and fix them.
