Help! Operating systems not found

Hello,
I recently erased the memory on three computers using a program called WipeDrive. It worked for two of them; however, when I was wiping my sony CPCCW21FX, the power ran out and interrupted the installation. Upon repowering the computer, the wiping continued but I do not think that it worked properly. Windows was completely erased, and I constantly got the message "Operating system not found."

I have no warranty, but Sony told me to purchase the recovery disks. First I selected the option "repair windows" then "startup repair" This left the message “Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically.”
I decided try to Vaio Recovery center, but this did not help either. I got a message that said “Could not obtain a recovery drive letter.”

My suspicion is that this is not working because windows is not installed, but since I know little about computers I want to make sure. I am contemplating two things:
1) Purchasing windows seven and reinstalling it
2) Sending my computer to vaio to be repaired
The first option is cheaper, but I am not 100% sure it will work. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Welcome
First after this if fixed stop with software, especially registry software, that is suppose to make life easier. Just ask and I will tell you how to maintain. Ask when we get this resolved
Boot the computer and at boot it should restore if you continually hit f11.
If that does not work, go with Seven. Buy the upgrade and save. A lot cheaper and the same as the full cost, if you know how to install
Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version - Windows 7 Forums
To test computer and maybe repair see if this installs. If it does computer is ok. Its just the OS.

You can also save your stuff.

OK sounds like you should test the computer, but I think its ok
Try to install that Ubuntu OS, to save your stuff and to test the computer.
If it works, I would buy the Upgrade Version of Seven. Follow the instructions that I gave you to install
Then come back and I will give you precise instructions on how to maintain.

All you need to do is change the boot priority and boot from the DVD. Even with the condition of your computer, you should be able to.
Please try, it will show if computer has hardware problems and you can save your stuff.
If it cannot be done, you may have hardware problems and should not buy Seven until you are sure

You have to use another computer to create the DVD.

Weakest part of my computer is the graphics chipset.
    Only ever used a laptop.
Also use USB Freeview TV Card
    Lenovo Docking Station
    External Speakers
Other bits a pieces as needed
If I don't have another computer available, would it work if I just purchased the full version of Windows 7 and installed it?
