Videos on 64-bit Vista Premium

I know this is an old problem but here is a new twist. I had IE8 and could use the x86 version for videos (facebook,BBC etc) using Adobe Flash player so I put both x64 and x86 shortcuts on my desktop. MS encourages me to upgrade to IE9,so I do and now no videos!.Not even using x86 version. So I switch back to IE8 but again can no longer view videos in the x86 version of that. So I'm stuck. I've tried the beta version of the x86 Adobe Flash with no luck. Would I be better off getting Windows 7,do you think? Would that help? :(
My wife has Vista Basic 32-bit. She has no problems with videos.

Oh boy! Here we go. No restore points,in fact no System Restore. It's gone. Last time I checked it was running but no more. Is there any way of getting it back? I'm beginning to think it's time for Windows 7.

Try the alternate software that I suggested.

OK lets go a different way, this should work. From the control panel, uninstall adobe. Use ccleaner to make sure all remnants are gone, including shortcuts.
Then reinstall. If it still does not work, try with another broswer such as Firefox.
If installed correctly you do not need to worry about 32 or 64.
I have 64 Seven (in this situation Seven is the Same as Vista) and have no problems.

Glad that one problem is resolved
The first thing that we need to do if Restore does not work is make an updated and full anti virus scan
Next download and make a full and updated scan with the free malwarebytes.
The virus writers know that we can get rid of their crap with SR, so they disable it..
Make the scans and report back

If you are negative the next step is to go to
services, --go from search if you cant find it
Then go to volume shadow copy and set it to automatic.

If you do not like Chrome, two suggestions
You could use IE, but then when you need flash, go with chrome
or
You could uninstall IE, and then
reinstall
How do I install or uninstall Internet Explorer 9?

Did you try the x64 flash?

Also, by default, windows, even 64bit, runs 32bit IE.

Patonb: X64 flash-'"square"- installs but does not work.
Richard: Ran full scans of antivirus and Malware bytes. No intruders. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling IE with no result.Suspect something radically wrong somewhere..

Stay with chrome if that works, You can set up IE as defaualt and only use Chrome when needed. I thought that was what you decided.

Buy the upgrade version, Alan. It can be installed like the full cost edition. You just need to have Vista or XP as the prior OS
