Vista Repair removed, other issues arising...

I noticed Windows Vista Repair on my laptop late last night. I initially started ending processes and deleteing registry errors myself, per instructions found on 2-spyware.com. But eventually I just used Malwarebytes, and then Spybot (which have served me well in the past).

The problems I saw associated with Vista Repair (Vista Repair pop ups, hi-jacking of my desktop wallpaper) were gone afterwards, but I feel as though.I traded those issues for a set of different ones.

1) I'm getting redirected on the internet. Not all sites, but it happens with this one as well as Seven Forums. And 2-Spyware. It worries me becuase viruses in the past have stopped me from getting to any site that might help me remove malicious software.

2) Upon restart, all the files (yet none of the programs) were wiped from my hard drive. Not a real problem in itself becuase I didn't have much of anything on there in the first place. But in addition to that, all my folders are out of whack. Normally, My Account folder would be in the Users folder. Now there's only a Public folder there. My Account has been moved under Desktop...not 100% sure here, but I thought the Desktop folder used to be in My Account. Now it's a starting point (like My Computer or Control Panel).

I don't know if Vista Repair is still there or if it's another virus or if I accidentally deleted something important but something is surely wrong.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome
Sounds like you still have a virus/malware
Download Microsoft Security Essetntials, update it a and make a full anti virus scan. In the future use this as your real time protection. What you have is not enough or even close to it
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspx
Make sure that you update malwarebytes and make another full scan.
Report back either way.

Thanks, I'll try that.

I already have McAfee on my computer. I paid for 3 years of it, though that's about to expire soon. Will Microsoft Security Essentials conflict with that? Should I remove it (McAfee)?

You did not mention Mcafee. Just update and make a full scan with that.

Alright.

Thanks for the Security Essentials recommendation though. I wasn't sure what I was going to use after my subscription was up.

For Windows, Security Essentials is one of the best and its free.
