I looked quickly and only saw sidebar problems. That is not the cause of the JPG problem. Sidebar are the gadgets.

Only time I have seen this was after someone dragged and dropped a drive onto another.
As it is only the pictures folder I doubt that was the cause.
Try setting to details view, then, right click on "name" and add "date created",and "date modified" columns or other columns to give you more clues as to when this is happening

Are you sure your camera did not install importing software?
I noticed in the screen shot you are using easyshare camera.
What could be happening in the software is importing and so is windows.
So you are getting copies.
Also noticed that the copies look a little like temp folders.
I know I just confused you.
The only thing I can suggest is go though your programs and see
if you have anything related to the camera and remove it.
But before you do move all your pix to a diffrent folder or put them
on a flash drive. Just in case the dam program decides to remove them.

Did you import the pics from a camera? If so then have you check the settings on the camera that it does not take double photo's. I had the same problem before but when I looked on the camera I only saw one photo of each. Just by chance I checked the settings and found it took doubles. Also does your vista automatically import your photo's for example through media player or some other program which is similair.
