Hi,

Does anyone know how to resolve an issue that results in error code 0x400 100 130000 1002? I replaced my hard drives and when I went to use the system recovery disks for the computer, I received the afore mentioned error code. I was just beginning the system restore process and Windows was beginning to re-partition the hard drives when the error code appeared and stopped the process. I then used the device mamager utility to ensure I had correctly installed the new drives and it appears they are working fine. I then went back to restoring the files and still got the same error message. Any assistance in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your input.

Welcome
I am assuming that you have an HP and I am further assuming that you used the term System Restore Incorrectly. When you say system restore are you referring to the process of restoring from the HP, restoration partition, in essence insalling the OS, again? If so you must get a DVD, either from HP or borrow from a friend and actually reinstall. If you do, you must use the 25 digit key number that can be found on your computer
Want to try and save your stuff first?

Thank you for the response.

After I installed the two new hard drives, I began the recovery process by using the HP system recovery disks that I made when I purchased the computer. The recovery process began by loading Windows files and then took me to the HP Recovery Manager program. This program began by telling me it would do a factory image recovery and asked if I would like to resore the system to the factory setting. I clicked yes and it began to reformat the Windows partition of my hard disk drive. Almost immediately, I received the error message of 0x400 100 130000 1002.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue? Thank you.

Thats what I thought. System restore is a process that is included with the OS and not what you did.
To the best of my knowledge, at this point, you need actual reinstall DVDs to reinstall the OS.
Three ways to get one
For cost from HP (about $25.00)
Borrow and DVD from a friend or enemy, which must be the same edition as the Vista that you have now.
or
For a bit more than $135.00, you can buy Windows Seven, which is my OS and it is excellent. If you decide on the last choice, post and I can test your computer to see if it is ready for Seven

Vista retail disc has all versions on it. Just select the version you had.

Sorry for the confusion. I do have the HP provided System Recovery Disks ( there are three disks that make up this process). As soon as I bought the computer, I made these disks which HP states are the same thing as I would buy from them had a lost or forgotten to make these disks. These are the disks I am using to recover the sysytem. Does this information help in any way to figure out potential solutions?

If the above solution does not help, I think that acual DVDs are needed, since your recovery DVDs do not work.
Not the ones supplied by HP.

Thanks all for the replies. Unfortunately, it does not appear to be an issue with the system registry after I ran the utility to clean that up. I am going to have to purchase a set of recovery disks directly from HP and hopefully that will do the trick.
