Solved Redundant file structure

Hi,
I have a file structure called 'Music" here:

C:\Users\Owner\Music
It contains "Recordings"
C:\Users\Owner\Music\Recordings
And under that there are about 70 subordinate folders each contains many *.mp3 files

This structure is repeated here:

C:\Users\Owner\Documents\My Music

Viewed from the prospective of the desktop it is:
Desktop, Frank. Documents, My Music

I work exclusively with the folders in the first structure (Music).
Somehow all activity there; adds, deletes and changes is faithfully reproduced in the second
structure (My Music).
How does this happen and should I, for the sake of compactness (save space) delete one of the
structures?

Thanks
Frank C
