Solved New PC - Installing Vista Problems - linux loaded

Hi i have a new PC with Linux loaded i want to install my vista, i put the dvd in the tray, windows loads and gets to the part where i want to install windows, 2 partions are showing , but it says it cannot be installed in any partition because it needs NTFS.
so i try to use the format button - it then comes up about losing data, yes carry on then, i then get "Failed to Format the selected partition [error: 0x80004005]"

Can anyone please help.

Do you want to dual boot, or just install Vista and remove Linux?

Don't worry, I'm still here! I just got back

Okay, if you've still got your linux live cd, boot into it and start gparted (the partition editor). From here I want you to delete every partition you have, so its all unallocated space, then make one partition out of it all with the NTFS formatting.

Then try installing vista

Thank you Tom, managed to change to ntfs did it with GParted Live CD but for some reason i coudnt make it one partition had to stay with two. vista now working
