Com Ports? Help...

I'm trying to synchronize "contacts manager" from a electronic organizer to my desktop; It won't work because it says that "either com1,2,3,or 4 are in use or not found; It also suggests I check my bios settings to see if these ports are enabled". I run windows vista-how do I do this?

It sounds like old software from back in the days before USB. Most new PCs don't even come with serial com ports now. I'd try to check with the software publisher, if they still exist, if there's any work-around.
