i've got a project that I have restarted twice in the past 24 hours.

my computer crashes in the middle of using "stop motion Pro" which is a stop animation program. my computer recovers itself..(it's not this program's fault, I am having continuous problems before I began using this software)..and then I cannot reopen my project as i get the message reading >..."being used by another user"... What can I do? I really need to get a move on as I have wasted loads of time on trying to make it work.
HELP!!

Step 2: Enable half of the services


  1. Follow steps 1a and 1b to start the System Configuration utility.
  2. Click the Services tab, and then click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box.
  3. Click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.
  4. Click OK, and then click Restart.
Ok, I've gone as far as this, can you explain this coloured text section...it is as clear as mud. What does it mean? am i supposed to just tick the boxes of approx half of the options boxes? I can see that the only one that stayed ticked is my anti virus.

It means make sure the first half (roughly, you don't need to be exact) of the boxes in that list are checked, and the other half are unchecked. Basically this tells Windows to only load up whatever services you have checked, and not load any unchecked services. Using this whole method, if the problem is caused by one of the services you can eventually identify which one is causing it.

Well if the clean boot didn't help (btw did you first try it with ALL the services disabled? That's actually the first thing you should have done since it will tell us if it's even service-related) you could try just copying the project file to another location and then opening it. Not exactly a concrete fix since you will likely have to do that every time your computer crashes, but might get you through it until we figure a permanent solution out.
