This problem just started happening with auto-update downloads of backup software (both Ocster and Seagate Memeo). My own user name definitely has Administrator status.
Has anybody any idea why suddenly it should demand user "Administrator" should enter a password when my user name is an Administrator?
Any idea how I get around this?
Hope someone can help!
I am a little unclear what you wrote...
Can you or can you not login to your admin account ?
Assuming that you can NOT.....
If you go to safe mode, do you see
another Administrator account next to yours ?
If yes, you are lucky. That is the Built-in Admin account.
By default, it has no password.
Login to that " real " Admin account > change you own admin account password > log off > login to your own admin account with the new password > are you allowed in ?
How to go to safe mode :
Turn off computer > restart computer > immediately and repeatedly tapping F8 key till you see a black and white screen. That is your safe mode screen > Use the Up/Down arrow key and select Safe Mode.
