Tonight I decided to do a system recovery(re format of my computer).

I have a Gateway desktop DX4820-07h with a pre-installed vista on it.

It comes with a 3 System Recovery Discs which I then used to perform the reformatting of the whole C: drive. After successfully installing, however, it prompts me to restart the computer and get stuck in the *

*********** The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected
*********** Error. Windows Installation cannot proceed,. To install Window, click
*********** “OK” to restart the computer, and then restart the installation.
loop.

I have tried doing the system recovery more than 3 times with no luck and I cant either access safe mode.

I also saw in some forums to change the ddr voltage thing but theres no way in my computer BIOS to access it. Some people suggest to try taking out one ram. is this worth a try?

I actually partitioned the hardrive of this computer 400gb for D: and 600gb for C: which is not the default settings when i first bought it (only C:) does this affect the problem?

I appreciate your help.

The recovery DVD's should be able to work around your partitioning scheme (they, in most cases, just use what's there - but occasionally they'll re-format and re-partition the hard drive when they start).

Most problems such as these occur due to problems with the disks. Please check them carefully for scratches/fingerprints/etc If you think that the disks are bad, you can contact Gateway for another set (USA instructions here: Order Recovery Discs (USA) )

Otherwise, please try the hard drive diagnostics here (the other tests should be run if the hard drive's pass the diagnostics):
I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:
H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link) - Test ALL of the hard drives.

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Resources (read the details at the link)
There are also free, bootable antivirus disks at this link: Free Online AntiMalware Resources - Bootable Disks

Good luck!
