Icons of opened forlders are changed !!

Hi, I've Windows vista, lately the icons of opened folders in the taskbar are changed to a new icon. All folder behave like this. I attached an image.

I already deleted the iconcach.db .

Thank you for help.

Hello asel and welcome to the forums :party:

Try running a scan with CCleaner:

CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Do NOT run the registry scan

And try this:

SFC Scan

1. Open the start menu
2. In the search box, type cmd
3. Right click on cmd and select Run as administrator
4. In command prompt, type:

sfc /scannow

5. Let it run and let me know if it finds any Integrity Violations

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Hi richc46, thank you, that what I'm affraid of, but I'm using Microsoft security essential, although I'll try malwarebytes.

I already deleted Iconcach.db, but it still same.

Run a full and updated scan with the Av and Malwarebytes. If they are clean, the damage may already have been done, so try the rebuild.

Hi, the malwarebytes full scan give me no infection at all ! and after that I delete the Iconcache.db and restart, but it still the same! it is something strange! I think it start when I inserted an external harddisk, but it was just formatted before I plug it and it is compeletely empty. Please any idea? anyone face such thing before?

I think I've found you a solution, I've written you a batch file that will rebuild your icon cache again - although I no longer think that is the problem, but it can't hurt - and it will also open a website you may find useful
