Solved No can do

Have been doing some cleaning up for friends on their Vista machines (I run 7) and I have been trying to get one machine to open with the screen requiring a password.

Now I have been through nearly all the tutorials and I cannot get it to work including the tutorial that quotes "netplwiz" and then gives instructions.

Another one that I thought would work was this one

Does the user account have a password created for it?

You might also see if this may work as well. It requires users to enter their user name and password at log on.

Hiyya Shawn yes mate it has and I have tried that suggestion but will tyr again son as I am downloading some drivers from Slim at the moment - it's way behind.

In actual fact the machine was in a real mess when I started it and only through your tutorials was I able to get rid of her son's admin account which it kept defaulting to plus her daughters account too. Add to that 18GB of rubbish and tons of unwanted programs, two security suites the thing was running so slowly and she was blocked out of her bank account to make matters worse.

So if it were not for your tutorials I would have been really stuck!!

No sorry Shawn neither of those downloads work ahve tried both - just opens up into the desktop.

I wanted to set it for her to stop the son and daughter just being able to access the computer without her permission.

Did you check the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer box option in the tutorial below?
