Help with restoring Vista

I have seen others with this issue but have nt seen a solution yet. Any help is appreciated.

I am trying to restore Vista on a Gateway PC. I power on and press F8. On the screen that follows I select Recover System. The net screen I get is Other User. No matter what I enter as the user and password it says that the Doman does not exist.
I have tried the System Recovery on my Laptop and it goes to the screen asking Keyboard languge etc. which is correct.

Has anyone found a solution to the Other User issue?

Boot the computer and press f11. You WILL lose your stuff, but the OS should go back to day one.
