Be Warned Counterfeit Windows 7 Ultimate

Some one installed 7 on my computer and didnd do clean install.. Turns out the copy of Windows is counterfiet. I get message pop up now and then...I need to go back tol vista from opartition and set to factory settings... I backed up what files I want so I dont care about wiping Hard Drives, C and D.

I wikll try to get a pic of the message screens..

All I wanrt is to access my pqservice partition and clean reinstall.

This is how you do the factory reinstall with Acer (you will lose your stuff)

I did what it says but under the advanced there wasl;ike an error message saying that like the files were not there....or something like that... If possible worst comes to worst is it possible to format the HD's and put use the operating System Disc from another computer?? I have the serial. It was from my wifes old Gateway.

Have you considered buying the appropriate version of Windows 7 and entering the legitimate serial key in the version you currently have installed?

Yes, if you can get your hands on a Vista installation DVD (the same version that matches your serial (e.g. if your serial is for home premium, then you can only install home premium) then this will work fine

well I do hace a DVD to install and I tried, but all it did was add onto my hd and not wipe it.. Should I format first? I tried before and it wouldnt do it.Also IO couldnt get on the net o that version, What am I doing wrong, I think I need voice to guide me, and also forum.

If I could access the pqservice partition to restore it would be better.

I'm not very experienced with recovery partitions, so let's give this a go first.

Do you have your files backed up? If not, then follow this to do so:

Use Ubuntu Live CD to Backup Files from Your Dead Windows Computer - How-To Geek

Then do a clean install with Vista, and yes, format it before you install Vista

K i will trry it tommorrow whani get a chance, hoping it works... Backing uo files to disc right? I got half a stack I hope I should b fine.

It would be much faster to back it up to an external hard drive, and much easier to restore from it If you don't have one, then discs will work fine
