Currently, I used VISTA, and I choose to stay with Windows Classic Theme ... because if I use Vista Basic Theme, I feel the color difference in Windows Explorer is not much. I often DELETE a wrong folder ... maybe it was caused by my color's vision is not good ... :(

This is the sample:

I wish that I able to make the #1's color is lighter and #2 is darker.
Please guide me how can I do that ...
Thanx

Although it seems like it should be simple, the Explorer folder background colors are not easily changed. There are programs that use an image file for the background, but they usually don't work in the root of the drive.

The alternative is to get a theme that replaces shell DLLs. The trouble is the background colors are hard wired. There is a registry setting to change the background color for most windows, such as editors, your browser, but it won't change Explorer.

Check out the customization section on Windows Seven Forum for more information about Explorer background colors etc..

Also you can find some themes with Explorer shell replacements if you look around on
deviantART: where ART meets application!

Any time you replace any system files you should have an image of your system backed up to external drive so you can restore if they don't work. If that's not possible at least use a Restore Point.

Dear MilesAhead,

At first ... I'm really SORRY! Maybe what I type is not right!

I don't wish to change the Explorer folder background colors, I just wish to change #1 and #2 color only.
In Windows Classic Theme, Windows Explorer :
When we choose/select an item within left windows, the selected color will be Blue, but when we choose/select an items in right windows, left windows' Blue color will turn to GREY, while the right windows' selected item will be marked in Blue bar.

The picture attached was updated.
Within the picture attached, it's easy for us to see both color is same ... please have yourself a reference.

I would try the customization subforum in Windows Seven forum. I don't think any of that is adjustable except by setting resources in the shell dll. But the people who do themes and customizing would know better than I. Just make sure to mention you are on Vista:

I'm not sure I understand what you want but I found more looks for Vista. Right click on your desktop and select personalize. From there window color and appearance, and then open classic appearance properties for more color options. Perhaps one of those themes will be better for you. If not you can click on advanaced and change the color. :)
