Folder view , file not showing ??

This is the kind of thing that makes Windows a pain.

I'm in a folder, where I know a file should be, yet I don't see it.
I refresh, by going back and forth in diff. folders and yet when I go back to the original I still don't see it.

I do a search and it shows me that it is in fact where I thought it should be.
Yet when I go there, it doesn't appear in the list.....

Back and forth several times........

Finally, by luck, I click on the "name" button at the top of folder view, then apparently it refreshes and appears.

Any ideas on why this is ? or what happened, and how to fix or resolve this ?

Hi,

Try this, open the folder & right mouse on any blank space in the folder (Not on an item) & then set the viewing mode as per the picture.

Once you have done it, play with the settings until they suit your needs after that, OK?

Hello, per your example, you have tiles selected, I have "details"

So when I do as you suggest, the "auto arrange" feature is greyed out....

So I assume it's only valid in the "tiles" format ???

Trust me,it's greyed out with the "details" option selected.
If I select tiles, then it isn't greyed out.

Test it, select the details and see ....

Not sure what you mean ?

In any case, is there someone who know why this is this way (my original post)
and if there is a way to resolve this ?

Hi,

Whilst this is not an answer but if you press F5 (refresh the screen) all should be ok? & once completed the file should remain in place. Unless you are scrolling through windows until you find the right folder.

Is that what you are doing? Opening "My computer" & scrolling through different drives or folders until you find the right folder & file?
