Solved odd icons on desktop

Hi

New here, first post, hope they get smarter as they go. I have three odd icons on my desktop. acer aspire 5200 laptop, I just got this computer from a friend and am trying to understand Vista.

Icon #1 %APPDATA%

Icon #2 desktop.ini

Icon #3 %USERPROFILE%

Are these suppose to show up? Can I safely delete them? Should I move them?

Do not delete them, they are so important they should be hidden. I dont know what you did to make them visible

Lets make sure that you do not have a virus or other malware
Make a full anti virus scan
Download and make a full scan with malwarebytes.

I had earlier set file properties to show hidden files. I thought it was just for the directory I was in, but no! That's what it was.
