Recently Changed

Can anyone please tell me the purpose of the “recently changed” folder when you are in “Computer” window. It is full of pictures, icons and images etc ?

My Computer

it contains files that you or a program recently modified or created. this folder does not contain the actual files, only shortcuts to the actual files changed by the user. it's useful if say, you want to open the file you were working on yesterday but don't want to go thru the folder/file directory for it.

Hello, interesting thread as i had never played in this area, i have Vista Home Basic, and to see that folder i have to open Computer and press searches, then i see a Recent Changed folder, when i open it, you can change view and date modified and mine shows items from more than one day ago. I did not know this was there even, neat. Thanks for this thread as it made me inquisitive as to what you were talking about, I have learned something today. Thanks.

Ccleaner will take care of temp files, or a disk clean from your system tools.

the list keeps changing, I believe it only lists the 15 most recently changed files.
if you make a change to a new (or old) file then the oldest "recently changed file" on that list is removed from the list. the file does not disappear from the hard drive, only from the list.

@Rainy My last list contained well over 300 items which I put through File Shredder, I really can't see any reason for this folder....

Hello,
I have known for a while now of this folder.
Odley enough I have removed the so called (Shrt cut) files and it removed the reference too.
That was painful had to recover them.

I have not had any problems (as yet) after shredding the contents of the file. How long do they stay in the folder and of what use are they.

It says that the files use is:
Basically, the browser is opening the Web page from your hard drive instead of downloading the files from the Internet. However I have not noticed any difference in speed of loading whether the file is complete or empty. but thanks for your input townsbg it is appreciated
