Freeze ups, hungup...

I get the hard freeze or hang up, whatever you call it, where the vista circle is spinning, and for 2-3 min you can't do anything. Then all goes back to normal.

This was happening quite a bit a few months ago.
I installed more Ram, and ran a pc cleaner, which helped, wasn't getting any for a while. Now I get them now and then.

Any ideas on what this is ? I think it has to do with system usage etc. someone said maybe virtual memory.....
Any tweaks I can do ?

Vista home premium - service pack 2
Intel (R) CPU 2160 @1.8 Ghz 1.8 ghz
Memory 3.0 GB

Here are my solutions to freezing, and an excellent article, which I hope is of some help
Go to search type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers
Download and run malwarebytes, a full scan after you update
Run antivirus scan
Check memory with memtest86
Make sure that you are not over heating.
Try in safe mode; report back if it works properly.
Try a clean boot
Make sure PSU is working properly
If overclocking, restore to original
Test hard drive at company website.
Test in safe mode, does it still happen?
Try with clean boot..

this is during normal use, surfing etc.

I might have 2-4 web pages open, listening to a mp3 file on Winamp etc....

I do run spyware, have a PC cleanup tool etc.... have cleaned the dust out so I don't think it heat.

More than likley it's just the fact that I'm pushing it too much.

How did Rich's test's work out, Ram good ? How much do you have by the way, i keep track of my usage by using the Task Manager in Performance tab and i monitor how much available Ram i have. Alot of times i get low as i open up alot of windows doing research and it gets too low to respond quickly. At that pt, i just use Ccleaner and lose those temp files and such and am back up to speed in just a few minutes.

Yeah , i see, 3 gig of Ram, you would have to run alot of stuff to have it slow down or get " stuck " Do Rich's tests to see what the issue may be.

I am interested in what this PC cleanup program is. The ones on TV commercials are scams, they say you have errors and you do not . So, the free test shows bunch of stuff just to get you to buy it. Best programs are actually free. Ccleaner and Temp File Cleaner by Oldtimers. I hope you have not messed up your registry from a program that has the potential to serious damage. Hopefully , you have a restore pt to use . Post back info on this program you have been using, and by the way, Vista set virtual memory automatically for you, you should not mess with page size settings, In My Opinion .

If you want to get this thing fixed, its best to take the tests. Talking about it will not solve the problem
