Access Denied on Folders

I am running Windows Vista with a problem trying to access certain folders. I have two user names and was able to regain access on the Admin user name but, it didn't work on the non-admin user account. I have tried to right-click on the folder and change the access properties as I did on the other user. When I tried to change the properties on the folder it said again access denied and the guest user check boxes are greyed out. Not bold like on the other user names. There was a problem with malware/viruses that have since been resolved but, I am guessing this is a resulting after problem. I am thinking maybe I can add admin rights to the other guest account. Any suggestions would help.

Hello, welcome to the Forums. Do this for me to make sure the malware/virus is not an issue please. How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to scan and remove malware from your computer
Use that and if it is clean , do this for me. Use this next : TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer - Geeks to Go Forums
This takes care of temp files very good. It may require a restart, do so, Then post back that you are showing clean and temp files cleaned out. ( hopefully you are indeed clean ) Then , we want to make a new restore pt. Post back here when you have that done please.

I would like to weigh in on this as I have a similar problem. As admin on my Vista computer I can't create a new folder with a name I specify. (It will only name it new folder or new folder(2) etc.) Neither can I move any folder into another folder. Yes I have the service pack2, and no it doesn't tell me access denied. Perhaps it's because I have a dual boot of a sort... I have Linux Mint on the box which I boot to via a thumb drive in the USB slot. And, yes, Linux mint is marvelous. So... A computer being an organizational tool, how do I manage? (No one knows how to fix my Vista problem..) Being a Unix guy, I resort to the cmd line.. (I refer to it as DOS), and I rename the folder from the command line. But, you see, why Vista is sad operating system is because everything is NOT where it is supposed to be. uSoft didn't do their homework on Vista. They broke their own standard for app location and adopted an unintuitive, clumsy, difficult OS for no apparent reason. It is uSoft's waterloo. Just try to do a "find" for *.mp3 with vista. They ruined the "find" app. Maybe I don't know too much about computers, but I know uSoft sent their restraint to /dev/null. By the way, as another user on my box, I CAN name folders and put them in one another, but NOT as admin... Go figure.
