Backup & Restore

Back & Restore successfully creates a restore point. When restoring, the system says it encountered an unknown error and system files have not been changed. Noticed this happening to all manually-created restore points. Not sure about restore points created when auto upgrades are installed. Any suggestions???

Yup!
Use Backup & Restore Center to create restore points before I download any software. If a problem occurs, I should be able to "restore" from the newly-created restore point.

Okay, just seeing how you were going about this. Can you confirm you are using an Admin account and that you are pressing continue when the UAC ask you to ? Possibly you have a corrupted account, go to your user accounts and make a new Admin account and try with that one, post back results please.
Welcome to Vista Forums by the way.
