If I upgrade to Vista Ultimate, will "Previous Versions" option apply to older files?

I currently have Vista Home Premium. I accidentally overwritten a file on Nov. 27. Before that, it was last modified on Nov. 26, which is the version I need. I tried using the System Restore Point, Shadow Explorer, and Recuva, but they only go back to Nov. 10th/11th.

If I upgrade to Vista Ultimate now, will the "Previous Versions" option on that same file have the last modified date (Nov. 26th?). Or is there a better way to get the version I need with Vista Home Premium?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, you could try this : http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html
Here is something worth checking out, not sure if this works for Vista or not, but, there are related tutorials at the bottom to read. Extract Files from Windows 7 Installation DVD - Windows 7 Forums
Edit : I found the vista tutorial : http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/261616-extract-files-vista-installation-dvd.html

Welcome
Sorry its bad news if you are talking about personal files. If you lost personal files, Ultimate will not help at this point. Ultimate would use System Restore points to get to the previous copies, the same as Shadow Explorer. If you could not restore with Shadow, it would be the same choice with Ultimate. If the files are imporant, though, and you try Ultimate, be sure you do not do a clean install. In that event everything will be lost, including programs, documents and the needed files.
If they are System Files, they are normally restored by a System Restore, but that, too was not possible.

Yeah, it was a personal file. I saw examples of screenshots of "Previous Versions" that kept modified versions throughout the day or week.. so I thought there would be still a chance to retrieve my file.. but thanks for the replies anyway.
