Using Gpartion help (pics)

I want to clean reistall vista which it wouldnt let me do on the vista installation disc for some reason.


can someone please walk me through clean insatlling vista without me doing something stupid like deleting the BIOS or something lol

Hi,

From the picture above the space (462.80Gig is the boot partition).

So, I think you will need to wipe the drive to create space for the Windows system!

Hi,

You could just leave it for now or wipe it with the during instalation & re-install it later, that is if you need it.

None of this will effect the BIOS! It is a completely different thing to the Hard disk & operating system.

i dont need anything on the hard drive, i used it to test out ubuntu 11.10 and now i wanna go back to vista, however when i tried to reformat the hard drive with the vista live cd it wouldnt let me?

so i thought i could use gpartition to do it but i dont know what im doing lol if i dodnt need any of it could i just delete all of the partitition, make a new one ntfs and then install vista?

Well, as long as there is nothing on it you need, in a nut shell, yes delete them all & start again with Vista.

oh? (im a noob with computers if you havnt already guessed!)

where is the Bios stored if not the hard drive?

&

why does you computer come with lots of CD Drivers if i can just install vista back on without them?

Hi,

The Bios is stored in a chip on the motherboard & controls the most basic functions of the system (Motherboard).

CD/ DVD, modem, network card drivers etc. etc... are for the operating system to interact with the different devices (Manufacturers make them differrently, Copyright etc.).

edit: when would be a situation that you need to reinstall the drivers that came with the computer?

My next door neighbor just got his first computer, and besides what i have showed him, i gave him the link to this site for him to learn some basics.. hope this assists you to some degree.
