Multiple Programs shut down

Hi, my problem is: whenever i log on to my computer, first is has very delayed start-up process, then there's and error that starts a chain reaction that shuts down several programs such as java and my router program (Though internet works obviously). Then if i try to view a video, then it says "Missing Plugin"

Please help

Running Too Many Programs in windows vista let it shut down. Because there are many services running in windows vista. To fix this problem you have to remove some services from vista from msconfig (start menu>(in the search box)run>'msconfig'>services)

Okay the error is:
(Program name) Application Error

The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000006). Click OK to terminate the application.
This is the one that starts the chain reaction of shut downs.

I have somewhat the same problem. Windows did an update, then wouldn't boot, had to boot from disk and now windows mail doesn't work, adobe reader has been disabled, sidebar is gone, HDD is thrashing, computer is slower than molasses at the North Pole and disk usage is high and nothing is going on.

i tried, but the configuration stopped working like the other programs...

I ran the sfc /scannow. I got:

Verification 100%
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example

C:\Windows\system32

Is the scan done? Where do I go to get the files with the details? TIA

Please don't make me start another thread, I've got a CMOS failure to boot in the other room as well as this mess. I hate this laptop.
