Invalid Partition

There is a lot on this forum but nothing that answers my problem.

My Acer Aspire laptop HD died which ran on Vista Home
(1) I purchased a new drive which I installed and was recognised
(2) I used my Recovery disks - part way through they hung up so I repeated the process twice more.
(3) Result was "Invalid Partition"
(4) I have searched the internet for advice and a fix with no luck because it is assumed that there is a working "Startup" disk which I do not now have?

I do realise I need a brand new operating system since clearly my original recovery disks are corrupt (otherwise they would not have stalled during installation) however until I can sort out the Invalid Partition I cannot install anyway.

Can anyone help???

Hi,

Do a destructive install, that is wipe the drive first delete the old partitions. Create a new partition & format it. This will reset the drive to one partition & format it as such.

You will then need to use the recovery disks. If you see an option to format the drive take it & let it run.

If it fails again, repeat the wipe of the drive & verify it is only one drive & start again. OK?
