Solved History not showing.

I use a Dell laptop with Windows Home Premium. A couple of months back I found that the history table was not showing anything at all, re the sites I had visited. By switching off User Control, the history was then again recorded. I ticked the boxes to hold history for up to 3 weeks, and everything was being stored correctly.
However, each time I started using the laptop there was the warning - User Account Control switched off. I have ignored this until yesterday, and started to delve into UAC and its use. Microsoft recommends that it should always be switched ON, so once again I switched UAC back on.
I again find that history is not being logged once more. Am I doing something incorrectly, or should I leave UAC switched off ?

richc46, I have just come back on line and seen your suggestion. Prior to that though I switched off UAC, and history is again being recorded. I have only owned the laptop for almost 3 years(age 70 yrs and self taught). I will have to print off your remedy, then sit with it alongside the laptop to follow your instructions, etc.
But as regards UAC being switched off, is there a real possibility of a 'security lapse' ?

For those well acquainted with Windows and security, UAC is not really required and many find it a bigger problem than it is worth. For everyone else it is necessary; even I use UAC, just in case my mind is elswhere and I do something that I should not.
If you are accessing software, installing or many other tasks that can create problems for the entire system, UAC will ask for permission. You will be forced to think before doing anything else. May I suggest that you keep UAC on, and we will try to fix History. If we cannot, I do not think that its loss would be more devestating than making a mistake due to the absence of UAC.

richc46, At the moment with UAC switched off the history is being logged, so for the time being I will go along with that set-up. Thanks for your help, and I will store your advice for future reference, and will possibly try it when I feel a bit more confident.
