    Icons Disappear off Desktop after unplugging HDMI cable

    I plugged in my laptop to my tv with an HDMI cable, when I unplugged the HDMI cable all my desktop icons disappeared. When I click the desktop folder everything on my desktop is in the folder but it doesnt show on the desktop. I plugged my laptop back into the tv and the icons reappear on the desktop. I unplug again and they disappear again. What do I do to fix this?

    Do they come back if you restart the computer?

    no they do not, i tried logging off, restarting, and shutting down. they dont come back unless i plug my laptop back into the tv.

    Try right clicking on the desktop and choose view. If auto arrange is on then turn it off and vise versa. Also try sort by name.
