Hello everyone.
A short while ago, I had another one of those phone calls where the company wants you to turn on your computer and enter their instructions because you have a problem on your computer that needs sorting. I played them along for quite a while and three times they called me. To cut the story short, they threatened me, that if I did not do what they asked, my computer will be hacked in two days time and not useable. I have good security but the threat has me concerned. Is it possible that they can hack into my computer? They said that even if I buy a new computer they will do the same thing. I am asking you, what do you think I should do? Should I report it to anyone?

Must be a rush on that sort of thing. I got 2 just last week. The first time, I let him talk and then said, "May I ask you a question" they said "Yes" I said, do you think Im an idiot, goodbye"
The second time, I said, I have to tell you something " Call again and I will call the police".
Of course they use call blocking.
Dont give any information, just get away from them.
Use Malwarebytes, and Security Essentials, if negative, they have nothing.

No, I didn't have my computer on. I was playing them along all the time and conclude they were not liking it. So they in turn threatened me. They have rung a few times before but I have never followed any instructions from them.

True hacking of a residental computer is pretty difficult. Unless you run a web or ftp on it.
They'd need you to drive by a site to really do it.
Shoulda asked them for your ip... Only be worried if they told it to you.
But you can caqll your isp and have then cycle your ip to a new one if your worried.

Phone threats to computer security should be reported to your local FBI office. They will threaten you no more.
