Hello Fofinha, and welcome to Vista Forums.

It just means that you will need to right click on the command prompt shortcut and click on "Run as administrator" to open a "elevated commmand prompt" first like in the tutorial below.

Ohhhh duhhhhh. Right. Thank you. But what I don't understand also is how do I get access to my CBS files? I keep trying to get in to them to see which files are corrupted and my access is denied also, yet on my Windows 7 I can waltz in and load anything I want to desktop to peruse it. I know this another duh factor. I keep trying to simply follow the file location as given by the command prompt box in order to see the log, and I search for it logged on as administrator but not from within the command prompt box as administrator. As you can see....I am kind of clueless but eventually I do achieve my goal. Am I missing a step? Do I have to make a "new" kind of elevated administrator account to get access to those logs? I tried to cut and paste the command to see the files from the tutorial but it doesn't say access denied, just doesn't do anything and goes back to C:\Windows\system32> or whatever it is.

Oh Fer F's SAKE! I swear I need to just give it up and go back to bed! Yes yes the !*#@ file is now on my desktop! I don't know what is wrong with me today please excuse me. My next hurdle is not having a vista installation dvd. For some reason my corrupt files (?) all seem to have this in them:

Kind of ironic. Since nothing looks terribly amiss I'm saying leave well enough alone. For all I know I buggered up the file myself!

Click on the link I posted above, look at the yellow TIP box at the top of that tutorial, and upload your sfcdetails.txt file here.

My other Toshiba has a corrupted Attrib.exe.mui on it and I was hoping to practice on this old Vista laptop before I plowing into the other..hehehehe.

Well, from looking at your sfcdetails, only the file below was found to be corrupted. Luckily, it's just a txt file that has no importance for Vista to run without issue, and is nothing that you have to worry about.

While holding CTRL and SHIFT press ENTER
opens as administrator
