Laptop USB Ports Not Working!

Hey guys, i have a Window Vista HP dv6746ca Laptop and none of the usb ports work at all. From what i know, it is an 'ERROR CODE 19' i believe. I posted this thread also on the HP forums and they said they couldn't help and it was a hardware issue. I'll provide a link below for you guys to see what me and the guy try to fix:

I wouldn't mess with the registry yet.

If you go to Device manager\Universal Serial.......\USB Root hub and look at the Driver details, is it using .......................usbhub.sys?

Have you tried reinstalling the mobo drivers using those available for your system at the HP support site?

i have 2 identical USB Root Hub and i checked both driver file details and has

C:\Windows\system32\drivers\usbd.sys
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\usbhub.sys

Your second question, no i have not tried reinstalling mobo drives not sure what they are tbh sorry :(!!

well i got it actually BUT when they ask me to scan i have to download something and they ask me to download or discard at the bottom of my screen and i don't know how to click on the 'download' (using google chrome)

That's a good point. I'm not familiar with all the keyboard shortcuts so I don't know what to tell you. You can't use a wireless mouse because the sensor has to be plugged into a USB port. Maybe someone else can help us.

what if i reformat everything would that be fine? i don't REALLY have that many important stuff on that laptop anyways. Also, i heard that i need a disc or something to reformat it?

You would need the installation disc to reinstall or repair Windows. I don't think this would solve the problem.

If your mouse isn't working, how are you getting around in the registry and Control Panel?

i know the shortcuts on my keyboard and i spent days on that laptop soi i kinda know my way around except for the download you asked me to use. Man this laptop is something huh?

Okay, its quite easy to find out if its hardware.

D/L ubuntu and run it as a livecd. No installing needed. If the hardwars good it will work.

But I'm with hp, windows has all the drivers to get usb working with no extras needed.
