disabling pagefile

New Member
Usual problem of disappearing free space in vista home basic 32 bit; have confined restore points to 1 gig, but while rate of cannibalization has slowed, it has not stopped. I don't use gaming and have 2gig of ram. Can I disable pagefile and will that action stop free space erosion?

Hello Sanrose, and welcome to Vista Forums.

I wouldn't recommend to disable the pagefile. Some programs may require it not matter how much RAM (memory) you have installed. If you like, you could reduce the amount used by the page file to help on HDD space to see how that works.

In addition, the tutorial below may be able to help you ID what is using up your HDD space to see what you can do about it.

It'll only save you 1 GB of space on the HDD. I'd recommend checking each item in the tutorial I posted above to see if it can help you ID what is using up your HDD space. This way you will be able to take action on the main cause.
