Indexing isn't mandatory. Try Everything Search:

The above link is the only listing I found for the latest version released. Don't know why it is, but it works better than the ones on the Everything Search home page.
Everything Search is very small and efficient. It keeps the db in memory and writes it out when the program quits.
Also it may be a good idea to get an external drive to park data. Running with a system drive over 50% full really bogs it down and slows defragging to the point you won't want to do it.
I try to keep my main drive usage below 40%. Typically it's 30% or less used when I defrag.
