    Potential Bottlenecking issues..

Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2
    System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
    System Model: D5468AT-ABA ALONPAV
    BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
    Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 9750 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
    Memory: 8190MB RAM
Page File: 3107MB used, 13328MB available
    DirectX Version: DirectX 11
    Card Name: GeForce GTX 470

Ok here's my problem. I want to play LoL (league of legends) competitively now that I got time; However, I'm encountering what seems to be latency issues. I have no idea what it is, but perhaps I think it's bottlenecking issues with the new video card installed awhile ago.

Best i can describe the problem is during in game for like 1 or 2 minutes there's fluid game-play at 60fps etc.. at decent ping(like 30ms). But ever so often i'll get what appears to be a lag spike for x amount of seconds (varies).

    Question is:
What's the real problem? How can I resolve this?

additional information.. Yes I virus scanned, defraged, no dust bunnies in tower. I tried eliminated processors from start up, but it's really difficult to figure out what to keep and what not; i have like 60 or running at any given time.

any help would be greatly appreciated. ty in advance.

Yha you have some bottle necking at your processor. You have an older quad, which isnt too bad, but with the 470, its an issue.

The other possible cause of lag is heat. Unless you've updated your case, that 470 is gonna get quite warm. When it heats up, it'll throttle back.

I highly doubt killing services will help, looking online LoL only uses 1 core, so the other 3 can easily handle the back ground stuff.

If you are fairly up to date on nvidia drivers and game patches, your only option may be a cpu switch.

Kinda forgot about the whole heat thing, although it's rather 'cool' in my house. Although even when i was in Japan during winter time, I think i still had this problem.

perhaps buying a whole new pc would be best..

any other options before i blow my cash?

I would start by 2 things... Buying a new case, swapping all the parts over to it.

The other thing, and I forgot about this, What size of power supply do you have? A 470 needs some good power of atleast 500W...

That, if not upgraded, could easily also slow you down, though I'd think you'd BSOD too.

So, I'd start with a new case and quality psu, in abouts 600W so that youre good for a few more upgrades in time.

The biggest thing thats hurting you is the oem prebuilt. They lock the bios, so you can't over clock and they limit the cpu's you can upgrade too.

Hmm, I can not find anything on your system, Do you know if the memory is DDR2 or DDR3?

I did upgrade my PSU when i got my 470, it's 850 now. Mem only DDR2 SDRAM..

So would it be feasible to upgrade the RAM with my unit? and what upgrading to windows 7, would that make a difference?

Upgrading rams a waste, 4Gig is plenty, i don't even see any where close running the 12Gig in my 2p or even my i7 with 6 is fairly empty.

    I don't think you'll see much change.

Your biggedst upgrade would be to a better cpu... But as i can't figure out what hp system you have, I can't even research that for you.

The link helped tonnes... Seems your mobo iws very limited in cpu, normally an am2+,3, would work, but not on these boards.

You are going to have to rebuild your system if you ant an upgrade.

Before you do any of that, I'd pop the side panel off and see if the heat is an issue.
