coppy and frozen video on my PC

I'm wondering if just an upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium would solve the problem with choppy and frozen video on my PC from video I imported from my new Nikon 3100 digital SLR. Nikon said, "This happens whenever the computer does not have the proper drivers to playback high definition videos". And they said a fast processor and a lot of installed memory- but even that may not be enough because there are "...a lot of factors that determine system performance". Or would it be better to buy a new computer. Thanks, David in Milwaukee

    Welcome
I just read your comuter specs and see that you have 1GB Ram. You cannot expect very good perfomance with 1GB of Ram. Most of that is needed just to run Vista. With Home Basic, you are using half your Memory just for the OS.
You may want to test to see if your computer is powerful enough for Seven.
Dont forget, this test will show if you have the minimum requirments and not if your software will run well.

    You should add more memory.

That's strange. This article- Dell Inspiron 531s Review & Rating | PCMag.com says that it comes with 2 Gb of system memory and it also says it has discrete graphics. Later on, it says that the graphics card wouldn't be available until after Novemeber 1, 2007. So, I don't know what he has.

If he doesn't have 2 Gb of RAM and a discrete video card, he's fighting a real battle with video since the integrated graphics is probably sharing operations (and memory) with the CPU.
