Could I use 2TB external hard drive?

OS: Windows Vista home premium (Japanese)
Computer: Dell XPS M1530

I wonder if I could use 2TB external hard drive with laptop?
Maker:Transcend 2TB StoreJet 35T

PS* when buying external hard drive what technical aspects are important to look into?
Any advice and suggestion will be appreciated.

Sure you can use that. Look for one with 7200RPM and a 64MB or at least 32MB cache. There are also some hybrids which are even faster. But they are overpriced. Just be aware that because of geometry, larger disks are slower than smaller disks.

Normally here in Japan they do not mention the RPM or about cache.

As a storage drive, the speed isn't that important.. I use a western digital passport, which has a green drive, and see no issues.

I'd recommend getting one from a known hard drive maker, like western digital or seagate.
