How can I delete an account that doesn't show up?

    Hello,

I have little experience with computers, so please bear with me here.

I deleted an account quite a while ago as I wasn't using it anymore. However, it is still showing up in the Users folder of my C: drive. It doesn't show up on the welcome screen, in the control panel's account manager, or even in Vistax64's System Info program, so I can't remove it. I can still delete some files off of it, but I would like the whole account gone, as it takes up a large amount of space.

I've had no issues with this other then documents (Open Office) being taken over by an 'Unknown User', which I suspect is this account. What should I do? I've searched all over for a solution, and couldn't find one that matched my problem.

    Thanks for the link.

I'm deleting the folder now and am getting a message reading: The file '...' (random assortment of letters and numbers) is a system file. If you remove it, Windows or another program may no longer work correctly. Are you sure you want to permanently delete it?

This is safe to do, isn't it?

We cannot guarantee the results. Things can and do go wrong.
It should be safe. The link I gave you is from Brink, one of our best.
