Hi yvesj.
As it says in the title, the storage is only 120GB, although it is very fast when it comes to transfering files (copy+paste, etc). I don't think that it being an SSD will triple the storage.
This will increase the speed of your computer though.
Up to 500MB/s read, 475MB/s write
thank you .
so a 120 is a 120 it dont mather what you buy .
now i know that they are really fast just like the 10.000 .
but why are they all under 300 gb then or what ever .
they do not go up like 1 tb so this is why i ask .i thing it 600 gb the top
Yes, I'm unsure of that. I saw one that was 480GB, but there was not many.
I guess you would have to put in 2-3 of them seperately if you have a desktop in order to get 1TB+; but you would have a very fast computer, especially if the title is correct where it says 6gb per second.
The technology is not there yet for larger memory sizes like 750Gb or 1Tb (most likely stability--takes a long time to get it worked out for long term reliability), and of course there's quite a steep price curve once you go above a certain level (like 250Gb).
What I'm curious to know is how much space is taken up by overhead. For instance a 250Gb drive won't provide 250Gb of free space when empty... it'll be more like 235Gb. A whopping 15Gb is lost to overhead. I'd hope that the SSD's may incur less overhead.
Incidentally saying 120Gb is not good for storage at all is very subjective. Some people have 160Gb hard drives in their laptops and don't even use more than 40Gb.
I've heard of some people removing the DVD-ROM drive and installing a 2nd hard drive in its place. To play a disc, you just use an external DVD-ROM drive connected via USB. It's probably fine for DVD but I wonder if USB 2.0 can handle the throughput for blu-ray HD media.
thank for the info .
so really a 120 and above be .
well i said storage .what i mean by that webb browing but i have a lot of bookmark .maybe 300 hundred of them .

You can buy a 512 Gb OCZ Vertex 4 SSD for around $600 US (a lot more in Canadian dollars). Just thought you should know.
The hard drive you mentioned is great if you have 6 Gb Sata connections on your motherboard. I think it would be backwards compatible with 3 Gb Sata but I don't know about 2 Gb.
