    WinVista x64 incredibly slow

Hello, I use a laptop that uses Windows Vista Ultimate x64 I think, I don't know too much about it because it is a relative's computer. But what I do know is i've used it before and it worked fine but today it is slow.

Windows Explorer(Not Internet Explorer) is very slow and any programs trying to be ran on it are such as games, internet browsers or just the Windows browsing in the computer itself. If I try to open something, it takes a a minute or over to open a page then sometimes slowly loads. I've already done reading all over the internet for the past 6 hours and the best results i've had is "go to msconfig and go to startup bar and click the 'Hide all microsoft services' button and then click 'disable all' , then apply then ok." I tried that and still the same issue. So I disabled ALL services including the windos services in the startup tab under msconfig which can you find by searching msconfig in the search bar. So now, not only is it still slow, I can't seem to re-enable the microsoft services either because they don't show up which also means we can't seem to format the computer because I don't think my relative has the Windows CD for it(He did not pirate it) He just has some virtual disk purchase kinda thing going on so he formats the computer from the inside.

I just don't know what to do anymore and my brain is fried and I feel like giving up.

Please let me know if anybody finds a solution.
    Thank you.

    Welcome
First run a full anti virus scan, then download and run a full scan with malwarebytes. If negative,

Also it helps to fill in the system specs. In addition it may help if you tell us how many partitions you have and how much free space you have on the system partition ( usually C: )

I can't even access the internet to do that, but I will try the 2nd alternative about vista performance. But I think there might be a way.

Also, I will get the specs as soon as the computer loads device manager, which is taking a while.

So I do believe that the system specs are:

Display adapter: ATI Mobility radeon HD 4600 series

    Processor: 2 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P7350 @ 2.00GHz

    Disk Drive:TOSHIBA MK5055GSX

    DVD/CD-ROM Drives: HL-DT-ST-DVDRAM GA10F

    Computer:ACPI x64-based PC

    Monitor:Generic PnP monitor

NetWork Adapter: BUFFALO WLI-UC-GNM Wireles LAN Adapter

Those are the specs, sorry if I poorly described it, my knowledge is very limited when it comes to computer this way.

On the side-note, is there any way to bring back the microsoft services under StartUp tab is the msconfig? Because windows looks plain and I can't access the internet on it with them disabled , and unless necassary otherwise, because the microsoft service things i used to see in StartUp tab are no longer there meaning I can't re-enable them.

Can you access it using safe mode with networking?

From safe mode with networking download and install malwareabytes, update, and run a scan. Also run a scan using your anti-virus software.

If you click on Quick Links then Edit System Specs and fill them in there you'll find they show up when people press the Systems Specs in the lower left corner of all your posts. See that way if you post other problems people don't have to search 100s of posts for that particular one above.

Also the reason I asked for free space on your system partition, if it's very low, that will slow down any machine even if it doesn't have other problems.

Easiest way, open My Computer showing all the drives, take a screen shot and post it.
