Here is my problem I cant Boot windows on my pc because i replaced the dead mobo with one from a hp pavilion (M2N68-LA Narra5) and we all know that Vista/7 are whores when u try to change the mobo. On top of that Ubuntu FCKD up its boot loader. Ive treid the Vista repair CD on internet but it said Incompatible (I have x64 Vista) THEN I tried installing Vista from my Harddisk (which dosent have repair menu for some reason) and deleting the boot folder but couldnt.. Then I used my windows 7 DVD to repair bootloader wich got rid of GRUB (Ubuntu bootloader) so I then tried to boot agian but still got BSOD so I googled error code it said something about ACHI bios settings wich was what the old mobo was set to and the Hp bios is EXTREMLY limited so i cant change ACHI in it on top of that ALL my games were installed on that os so most dont work anymore

Hi ogxbmc, and welcome to the forums.

Lets get this all sorted out and start from scratch.

I'm guessing theres no files that you want to save asides from your games and such, but even so, they should be saved in windows.old

Try putting in the vista repair CD and booting from CD in your BIOS settings.

No I installed vista on the other HDD so I wouldnt have to delete the one that wont boot, do you know of a way to change the system files to be compatible with my new hardware because I do have access to the drive via dual boot.

Okay.. so you have two HDD's. and both have vista installed, but one of them doesn't boot.

The new HDD won't boot because of your new hardware configurations/mobo.

Are you able to get to the BIOS screen? Do you get a BSOD if you do a normal start-up?

Upgrading the BIOS of your computer's motherboard, also sometimes called 'flashing,' we'll get to this in a while as I'm currently busy, unless another member can jump in.

You will need a windows product that is valid for your new hardware.

Usually if you call MS - they will do that for you if you had to replace your mobo because it died.

You can run it from Windows - but you have to be able to see the sick drive from there - so you can point at it.

I think there might be a Linux boot media included - can't recall.

If not, it is very easy to make winpe media with Paragon in it.

Might have to look at writing something, so users can knock up a boot disc with paragon on it.

SIW2, just wanted to thanks. Just from reading this post I was able to start down the road to solving an issue we were having with a Windows 7 image that was being run on this same motherboard with brand new HDD's. I was able to get Paragon to run inside BartPE and it worked like a charm.

Thanks again!
