Hi, a strange icon appeared in the notification area at bottom right of my screen, it was a capital A in a box, with a round thing on the top, it has now disappeared, anyone know what this is ?.........Del.

Run a full anti virus scan
Download and make a full scan with malwarebytes
Make sure they are upadated and make a full scan
If negative, go to search by the start button, type notification area. You will see a list of all icons that are set to notify.

Richard, feel quite silly , it's the CAPS LOCK, in 4 years on this laptop never seen it before, nothing has been changed, so why would it suddenly appear ??.........Del.

Computers have settings. Sometimes a bad shut down, new software can cause little changes like that. Do this and if your ok, dont worry about it
Do the virus and malware scan. If negative, do this.

Your OK. Just be sure to shut down computer properly. You may want to invest in a surge battery back up (UPS) APC has good ones.
