Compaq iPaq Partnership issue ...

Hello all ...

I have had a Compaq iPaq 3636 since about 2000 and it has worked and still works perfectly, having required only one battery change in all that time. Of course it is a bit out-of-date, but its Contacts and Calendar is so much easier to use than my iPhone I have stuck with it.

However, I recently did a stupid thing: I allowed the iPaq battery to go completely flat without realising it. So when I reconnected it to my PC it restarted, but it's Partnership Name changed to WINDOWSMOBILE94, and a new partnership ("kas's device 2") was created. It was previously called Pocket_PC and its Partnership Name was also Pocket_PC.

I was able to get my 12 years of Contact data back without a problem - it seemed to contained within the iPaq memory. And my documents and spreadsheets had been recently backed up so they weren't a problem either.

However, I cannot now get my Calendar of Appointments back onto my iPaq from my Exchange Server (via Outlook is what happens, I think), and nor can I synchronise my Contacts with the Exchange Server either. All this had worked perfectly for years and years.

I thionk that the problems are to do with the fact that I cannot change the iPaq settings back to "Pocket_PC" so that I can reconnect to the original partnership - if I try to do so it immediately reverts to WINDOWMOBILE94, and then connects to the new "kas's device 2" partnership, which won't engage with my Exchange Server.

Am I missing a setting in the iPaq? I don't mind keeping the new iPaq Name and new Partnership Name but I do need to pick up my previous Calendar and Contacts from my Exchange Server.

I hope someone may be able to help.

Regards,

Ken
